Steakhouse Mushrooms
Ingredients:
10 ounce can beef broth or 10 ounces of water + beef boullion cube
½ cup minced shallots or diced chives
1 lb. mushrooms (variety)
1/3 cup red wine or marsala
Directions:Place beef broth and shallots in pan and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes.
Add mushrooms (I added crimini, shiitake, and portabella mushrooms, sliced = 1 carton of each from Trader Joe's) and wine and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
Serve mushrooms with steak = Take 4 filet mignon or 4 New York Strip steaks (Costco), add olive oil, kosher salt, and pepper to each side. Place on BBQ until cooked the way you like it.
Steak Butter = 1 stick of butter + 1 tsp of Worcestershire Sauce + 3 finely chopped garlic cloves. Mix together and spoon onto each hot steak. Melts right in your mouth.
These mushrooms also are delicious served on a hamburger or grilled chicken breast with your favorite melted cheese.
Pair sautéed mushrooms with a flavorful red wine like a Justin Syrah or Justin Cabernet Sauvignon.
