Ingredients:
1 egg
Cooking spray
1 burger patty
1 tsp. butter
Slice of your
favorite cheese
Avocado slices and
other optional vegetables (lettuce, tomato, red onion slices, etc.)
Crispy bacon
Grill Mates Montreal
Steak seasoning
Oroweat Crustini
Specialty Sandwich Roll (found at Albertson’s, made by BIMBO) or your favorite
hamburger bun
Directions:
Cook your bacon
ahead of time by baking it or frying in a pan until crispy. Lay on paper towel
to soak off access grease
Preheat conventional
oven to the toast setting so it gets warm
Heat up your BBQ to
medium-high heat or for indoors get your cast iron skillet hot, I did mine in a
skillet this time
Add butter to hot
pan and swirl until melted
Sprinkle both sides
of your burger with steak seasoning to your taste
Plop the burger into
the cast iron skillet, you should hear it sizzle
Cook your burger on
one side for 3-5 minutes until the bottom gets browned, then flip. Once you
flip your burger it is time to cook your egg. It is also time to lay a slice of
cheese on top of the burger patty so it has time to melt
In a small pan set
to medium heat, spray with cooking spray; crack one egg into the pan
Once the egg sides
start to turn pure white, flip your egg over. You can turn it to low if you want
an over-easy egg or stab the yolk with a fork if you want it over-hard
In the last couple
minutes you are ready to shove your buns in the oven. Toast for 1-2 minutes
depending on how crispy you like your buns
Assembling your
burger is the best part. You get to create this piece of art. My husband doesn't like vegetables but he does love avocado, meat, cheese, and bacon
On a plate, lay the
bottom bun down first and add your slices of avocado, crispy bacon, burger
patty, egg, and any additional vegetables, then finishing with the top bun. Cut
it in half and serve with your favorite side dish. We used Bush’s Grillin
Beans, Southern Pit Barbecue found at Albertson’s in a can. You can also try some of these other fun dishes below including BBQ bacon wrapped baked potato, Hawaiian Macaroni Salad, or Buffalo Chips
