3 Meat Burger Slider

My husband loves pizza and he loves burgers. When he gets a pizza it's the Meat Lover's Pizza from Grazie's in Upland, CA. This pizza inspired me to create the "3 Meat Burger." I also read an article in the Los Angeles Times Food section from June 30, 2011 where a woman named Susan Salerno from Henderson, Nevada invented an Italian Caprese Slider. It consisted of ground beef, hot Italian sausage, Italian seasoning, onion, bell pepper, garlic, mozzarella, dinner rolls, pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, roma tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves. Since my Hubby hates veggies, I stuck to an all meat slider.

Ingredients:

1 pound of ground sirloin or ground beef (90% lean/10% fat)
1 pound of Italian sausage, casings removed – Sweet or Hot Sausage
4 slices of bacon, cooked crispy or use pre-cooked bacon, chopped
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon minced garlic
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Salt & Pepper
Your favorite Cheese
1 dozen dinner rolls – I bought the Home-style rolls from Albertson’s sold in the bakery (Hawaiian rolls will also work great)
Directions:
Combine ground sirloin, Italian sausage, bacon, Italian seasoning, and garlic
Work meat mixture into a patty and create a dimple in middle using your thumb. This helps keep the juice in it
Brush a little olive oil on the top of each burger and sprinkle a little salt and pepper
Clean grill and spray it with PAM
Cook burgers on medium heat until you see grill marks on each side
Cut the buns in half and toast directly on the BBQ or in a toaster oven
A few minutes before the burgers are done, place your favorite slices of cheese on top. I used jalapeno lactose-free cheese from Trader Joe’s.
Top with ketchup, mustard, Tabasco, or espresso BBQ sauce
Optional:
Add a teaspoon of butter in the middle of each patty
Grazie's Italian Restaurant:
The right side is the Meat Lover's and the left is Joy's Favorite
