***Here's a perfect idea for a birthday party or Bachelorette party. Try to find a Barbie or Ken doll that looks like your friend. Same color hair, same color eyes, etc. You can decorate your cake any way you like. I went with dark chololate 3 layers of cake, cream cheese frosting, sprinkles, Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies, Happy Birthday candles, chocolate chips to write my friends name, shot glass with chocolate cake shot, lemon with sugar on it, and Kettle One mini bottle of alcohol + Frangelico liqueur mini bottle.
Ingredients:
1 box of cake mix - I went with Betty Crocker Super Moist Dark Chocolate - 15.25 oz.(you will need 3 eggs, water, and Vegetable oil to mix with the cake mix)
3 x 8" or 9" round pans + parchment paper
2 tubs (16oz. each) of cream cheese frosting or use my recipe to make it from scratch
Optional Cake Toppings & Decorations:
Cake Mate - Happy Birthday candles
Sprinkles
Chocolate Chips
1 mini bottle of Kettle One vodka and 1 mini of Frangelico - Go to Liquorama in Upland or your closest liquor store
1 x Lemon
White sugar
Cookies - Girl Scout cookies (any kind) or use my recipe to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch:

Barbie or Ken doll - I found mine at Tuesday Morning and the Dollar Store for the shot glass
Directions:
Mix cake mix with ingredients that the cake mix calls for
Spray PAM Baking spray or use Crisco on bottom of round pans
Cut round circles of parchment paper to fit inside the round baking pans. Spray with PAM on top of paper or use Crisco. This steps helps the cake fall out of the cake easier
Pour 1.5 cups of cake batter into each pan (3 pans)
Bake on 325 for 25 minutes or so - use a toothpick to make sure each cake is cooked all the way through but don't overcook, you want it to stay moist
Let pans cool on the counter for 15-20 minutes and dump cakes onto cutting board, wrapping each cake round with saran wrap and place in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour
Place 1st layer of cake on large serving plate, top part of cake facing down, and spread a layer of cream cheese frosting or chocolate frosting. Add 2nd layer of cake, ice the top of that one, and then add 3rd layer of cake and ice that one.
*** Use one tub for icing between sheets of cake and one tub for icing the sides of the cake
Ice all around the sides and top of cake so no cake is showing
Place cookies along the bottom of the cake
Use sprinkles on the top - I used rainbow colors
Pour alcohol out of the mini bottles into a shaker so you can make the chocolate cake shot. Recipe below
Place mini bottles on top to the far right
Place shot glass in the center of the cake
Place Ken or Barbie doll to the far left - you will want to make them look a little disheveled (PARTY TIME on their bums)
Place slice of lemon with sugar on it next to the shot glass
If it's a birthday party, add Happy Birthday candles. If it's a Bachelorette party or another occasion you can use chocolate chips to write other words: PARTY, GO BIG OR GO HOME, the persons name, etc. You can use chocolate chips or icing to write your friends name on the cake - I used chocolate chips
TADAH!!!

I am totally going to do this for someone!! And I love parchment paper! Put a circle of it on top of cake batter and you get cakes that are level on bottom AND on top!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea on the parchment paper on top as well. I have not tried that. Thank you for your comment. This cake is a lot of fun. :)
